FASTRAC TM Bell 206B Six Degree of Freedom Flight Training Device
Our Simulator Training Center provides comprehensive Ground School as well as hands on training in FAA Certified Non Motion and Full Motion simulators Flight Training Devices. The simulators incorporate a 120 degree field of view (FOV) multi-channel visual system and provide all of the functionality needed for emergency procedures and instrument flight in any weather condition.
Ground school instruction is augmented with hands on simulator training for advanced flight training to include: Transition to Turbine, Recurrency, Type Ratings, Instrument Ratings and scenario proficiency training. We specialize in rotary wing training only catering to: Law Enforcement, Med-Evac, Forestry, Off Shore and other helicopter operators and professional commercial pilots.
Our flagship simulator is a full motion system (six degree of freedom Bell 206B Jet Ranger). This simulator provides the most realistic flight experience available short of flying the actual aircraft. Motion sensory cues are essential and necessary for helicopter training to emulate the actual aircraft environment including: true engine vibration at idle, during ETL, blade stall, tail rotor failures, disorientation and other situations that non motion simulators can not simulate. These sensory cues are critical and essential when learning advanced flying techniques.
Our helicopter flight training programs range from 3-5 Day classes and include : Rotary Wing Transition to Turbine, Initial and Advanced Instrument Ratings, Recurrency and customized scenario based training such as Long Line, Confined Space and other training specified by our customer.
Our training classes are kept small, matching and grouping pilots of similar proficiency together. Our staff of experienced Certified Flight Instructors have hundreds to thousands of hours in military and/or turbine helicopters. Before a pilot is enrolled in a class they meet with a rotary wing CFI who will assess their training needs and current proficiency. Classes will be assembled based on the proficiency of the group to ensure no one will be board or left behind.
The first part of the simulator training is a comprehensive review of VFR procedures, including startup, in-flight, and shutdown procedures, engine systems operation and malfunctions, and emergency procedures.
The second part of the training consists of attitude instrument flight procedures and recovery techniques for inadvertent entry into IFR flight conditions.
The Initial IFR training program is suitable for non-instrument rated pilots as well as those who have an instrument qualification but are not yet rated. Following the completion of the Simulator and Ground School training the student will progress to one of our Turbine Equipped Helicopters (Jet Ranger 206B or A-Star 350) for several hours to complete the currency and instrument competancy portion of the training.
The following SAMPLE courses provide the necessary instruction for a rotary wing, piston engine pilot to transition to a rotary wing, turbine powered helicopter. Many insurance companies require training to be eligible to meet their insurance coverage. We have a number of other courses available or will develop a custom course for operators with specific pilot needs.
